Having sold more than 2 million units across the world and has become the second best SUV in the Volkswagen range after the Tiguan, Volkswagen has finally revealed the new 2nd generation of the T-Roc
The new Volkswagen T-Roc still sits between the T-Cross and Tiguan but has grown substantially in size by 122mm and has added an extra 28mm in the wheelbase. The T-Roc is also 9mm wider than before too but the main important part is that it is 10% more aerodynamic than before.
With the new Volkswagen T-Roc being based on the new MQB Evo platform you can get the usual 1.5 eTSI engines from the Tiguan and the Golf models but there will also be a new full Hybrid setup with either 134 bhp or 167 bhp which is all new technology for Volkswagen and is planned to be released by summer 2026 because of a slight delay. There will also be a 2 litre eTSI engine with 4 wheel drive coming in 2026 too. All new Volkswagen T-Rocs will be Automatic DSG only and which is a bit of a shame but it is understandable. There will be a performance R version though that will have some sort of hybrid technology and but we will have to wait and see. You can get DCC Dynamic Chassis Control though from the Tiguan, Passat and Tayron so you can choose how you want your car to feel on the road.
In terms of design on the new Volkswagen T-Roc it is very similar to the outgoing T-Roc but has been updated and given a bit of Tiguan influence. with this we get a slim LED Light bar with a light up badge and we also get a set of slim headlights with IQ.Light Matrix technology. The R-Line models do get their own bumper design that gives it an aggressive look but no matter what trim level you choose it will look modern and stylish too. Round the back and it is very similar to the ID.4 in terms of styling with clear light lenses and a light bar but overall it looks quite modern.
Climbing inside the cabin and the interior is very similar to the Tiguan having a 10 inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9 inch infotainment system on the higher levels or a 10.2 inch on lower models running MiB 4 software which we have seen in other Volkswagen Group cars. There is also a Heads Up Display for the first time in this car which works very well and makes this car more premium. In terms of switches there isn't many in the cabin but we do get the new multifunctional dial like what we have seen in the Tiguan and Tayron which makes using the infotainment system features much easier than before. The cabin also feels much more premium and well put together than before with loads of soft touch and premium materials. You can also get massage seats for the first time as well as 14 way adjustable seats.
Practicality is the best point on this new T-Roc though. Because of the extended wheelbase rear seat space is much better than before even though the outgoing model was good. The boot space has also grown by 20 litres to 465 litres.
Safety features are also great in this new T-Roc with standard kit including automatic braking and steering assist as well as driver attention monitoring, parking sensors front and back as well as cruise control, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition. You can also get the optional rear view camera, park assist and travel assist system as well as adaptive cruise control.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc presales are open now with first deliveries expected to start before the end of the year with pricing expected to start just under £30,000 and going all the way to £45,000 for the performance R Model.
