The Long awaited Volkswagen ID.Polo has arrived with a sub £25,000 price tag.
The ID.Polo is the start of the new 'True VW' products with it being a front wheel drive car it is unlike any other ID car before it. The base Trend version uses a 37 kWh battery pack with a 114 bhp electric motor or you can go for the life or style models which have a 133 bhp electric motor and a 52 kWh battery pack. Topping the range is the 208 bhp electric motor with a 7.4 Second 0-62 time and the legendary GTI nameplate.

The main reason why Volkswagen wanted to use the Polo's nameplate is to bring its traditional cars into its electric era and this really shows with the design of the ID.Polo. it has a traditional Polo design to it with a few Golf elements thrown in to it. We get a welcoming design up front with a few grey highlights and a very thick light bar. You also get a decent looking lower central air vent and some side vents. Everything is necessary and not an added extra like some other cars. Another design that i like are the wheels, they are not crazy or outlandish like what you find on a Peugeot, They are simple and do the job. The same can be said for the rear design. It looks clean and modern as well as looking like a typical Volkswagen.

Now i have touched on the interior design before and i will leave a link here but here is a snapshot of what i said about the interior. The Dashboard features a new 10.25 inch Instrument cluster and a new 13 in Infotainment system which runs new software which has been simplified and made to look cleaner too. It also uses a new navigation platform which can switch between Volkswagen's own system or Google Maps. The Instrument Cluster also has simpler looks too but the best part is that you can put both screens in retro mode to show a Golf Mk1 inspired screen setup which i think makes the interior a lot more iconic.
The main strong point of this car is its practicality. This car is the size of a polo whilst being practical like a Golf. A true Volkswagen feature. Present on this car is a 441 litre boot space which is up from 350 on the ICE polo and 380 on the Golf.
The Volkswagen ID.Polo will hit our shores by the end of the year with a decent starting price of under £25,000 so stay tuned for a review.
