BMW has claimed this is the biggest update it has ever done.
Yes you read that right, this isn't just any update for its big luxury car. BMW has really given this car an almost new generation look to it as well as a new set of powertrains.

Starting with the exterior design BMW hasn't changed much but it has streamlined the look making the whole design fit in much better. It has done this by giving it a sharper and taller grill which is not fully illuminated. BMW has also changed the Daytime Running Lights to be much slimmer and sharper than before too. The main headlight units are still separate units but have been integrated into the side vents hiding them much better. We even get a whole new bonnet design with a more indented valley for the BMW badge of which is also new. Around the side we get some new door handles and wheel options but more on than in a moment. Round the back and the taillights have stretched to be much wider than before giving it a similar look to the new 3 Series. to complete the exterior design we also get new front and rear bumper designs.

Moving inside the new 7 Series and everything has changed. To start with we get a new dashboard design inspired by the latest i3 and iX3. in this car though the materials are much more premium and we also get a lot more ambient lighting and trim panels too giving it a much more premium feel. We do get the iDrive X operating system with its slanted screen and panoramic display projected on the windscreen but on the 7 Series we get a third screen for the passenger which is sort of integrated. We also get a new steering wheel which does feel more premium but it still isn't the best of designs we have seen. In the back it is business as usual but the drop down display does have new software now replacing the Fire TV software.

So, in terms of engine options there will be 3 ICE options and 2 PHEV options just like before with the 7 series getting straight 6 powertrains and a high performance M760e but the i7 has received significant upgrades. To start with the range has increased by 73 miles to 452 miles on both models. All i7 now feature 4 wheel drive with the top of the range model M70 getting 672 bhp. The main reason behind the massive range increase is because of the battery technology. The new BMW i7 Facelift now uses BMW's latest Gen6 Cylindrical battery cells found in the i3 and iX3. Sizes have yet to be announced but we expect it to be 110 kWh is size. Charging speeds have also increased from 195kW to 250kW too.

Finally lets talk about the customization. On the new BMW 7 Series and i7 BMW has introduced a lot of new customization options to make the 7 Series truly your own. Its hard to explain how many options there are because there are loads the best way to describe is the colour pallet. Including the dual colour design and BMW's individual range there are roughly 500 colour combination options to choose from. This doesn't just stop there you can customize the wheels and interior design too. A true luxury car then.
