The new Lexus ES has arrived at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show and will not only be available as a hybrid but also now fully electric.

There will be 3 versions offered here in the UK. The range will kick off with the ES300h hybrid which features a bigger battery compared to the previous generation model. This will also use the familiar 2.5 litre petrol engine with a combined power output of 198 bhp. Above this sits an electric model called ES350e. This has front wheel drive and has 221 bhp but no performance figures have been announced yet. The next and final version is the ES500e and this is a dual motor model setu with DIRECT4 all wheel drive and 338 bhp.

Sitting on the redesigned Lexus K Platform the new ES gets a wider track and for the first time a multi-link rear suspension setup. The ES also introduces a new design language looking similar to the latest Prius.

Up front we get a set of very slim LED Daytime running lights above the separate headlamps. A trend that's taking off at the moment. What is different from its 5 Series and A6 rivals though is that the ES doesn't have a big grill. instead it has this minimalistic electric look to it, even on the hybrid model.

Round the side Lexus has given the ES some complex surfaces with the air vent in the front door which gives this car a unique look. Moving further pack we get more of a coupe design like what the Prius has.

Round the back we get a full width lightbar and illuminated Lexus lettering as well as more sharp creases and vertical reflectors.

Moving inside the new ES gets an all new design with a digital instrument cluster 12.3 inch in size as well as a 14 inch Lexus connect infotainment system which will receive OTA updates as well as the LexusLink+ app. We also get a row of touch sensitive climate control buttons which is better than it being on the screen. Other physical buttons include a drive selector and the start button as well as a hazzard switch. You do get a couple of USB C ports though.

The Lexus ES should arrive in spring 2026 with prices and specifications due around the end of this year. What do you think of the new Lexus ES. Let me know on the official Everything Cars and More Youtube Channel.
