The new Citroen C5 Aircross has finally landed with looks closely related to its concept. Sitting on the new STLA-Medium platform the new C5 Aircross will come in Mild Hybrid flavor as well as Plug-in Hybrid and for the first time Fully Electric.

The new Citroen C5 Aircross sports the new Citroen design language with its sporty looking LED Daytime running light setup and a set of very slim headlight units. In the middle of the front we get the new Citroen logo and a very interesting bumper design with some changeable panels either side of the front. We also get some gloss black cladding too to give it a premium look.

Moving round to the side and this is where we can see that the C5 Aircross has grown quite considerably by 152 mm. This gives better passenger space inside but also makes the car look more premium too. We also get a sloping rear roof to help with aerodynamics for the electric model. In typical Citroen fashion we do still get some black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and a bit along the side too.

Round back and this is where the design starts to get interesting. To start with we get the concept like taillights that stick out from the bodywork giving the car a much wider appearance which i do quite like. This also helps with channeling the air flow round the car. We also get a black bar connecting the taillights together and some white lettering too on the back. The bumper is a bit plain but it is functional and will help to keep the cost down.

Moving inside the new Citroen C5 Aircross and this is where Citroen has really stepped up their game. to start with we get a lot of soft touch materials on the dashboard and door cards to which took inspiration from a sofa. we also get a lot of premium materials around the cabin along with an 8 colour ambient lighting system which is a first for a Citroen. Another first for not only just Citroen but Stellantis is this huge portrait touchscreen. This uses the same software as other latest Stellantis cars but we have much bigger buttons which are easier to use. We do get climate control switches on the screen though but they are big and they do stay in place. The main functions are kept to physical buttons though which is nice. We also get a digital instrument cluster which houses your essential information and it is very clear and easy to see. The steering wheel is this 2 spoke design but it does look quite good and is functional. Practicality is also decent too and a lot of light is let in with a big glass roof.

Sadly practicality isn't as good as it was as Citroen has ditched the 3 independent rear seats that the outgoing C5 Aircross had. Boot space has improved though with it having 651 litres regardless of the drivetrain and the rear seats do split 40:20:40 which is handy.

As i said above with the C5 Aircross based on the new STLA-Medium platform we get a range of powertrain options. The base model consists of a 1.2 Litre Turbo Mild Hybrid unit with 143 bhp and this is mated to a 6 Speed automatic. The next version uses a 1.6 Litre Turbo Plug in Hybrid setup with a 21 kWh battery pack and 190 bhp. This can do 53 miles of range which is quite decent. The final versions are the e-C5 Aircross and this has a 73 kWh battery pack with a 211 bhp motor giving this car 323 miles of range. There will also be a long range version too with a 97 kWh battery pack and 228 bhp. This increases the range to 423 miles which is very impressive.

The new Citroen C5 Aircross will arrive in the UK this autumn in all forms. What do you think of the new Citroen C5 Aircross. Let me know on my official Everything Cars and More Youtube Channel.
