The new Skoda Elroq, the face of the new Skoda. Is it as good as it seems.
Skoda has high hopes with it's second electric car. The new Elroq will slot below the successful Enyaq. The outside consists of the new Skoda "Modern Solid" design with the Skoda logo being replaced with the Skoda lettering. It now also features a split headlight design. The headlights also have Adaptive Matrix LED Technology which is a great feature. You also get a slim gloss black panel replacing the wide gaping grill and this gives the Elroq a sleeker more premium look. This panel is called "Tech-Deck Face". This panel houses all of the sensors and cameras the car needs for its driving assistance systems.
Moving round to the side and the profile is clean and modern looking. It also has the same wheelbase as the Enyaq and the same doors as that car too to cut down on development costs and also reducing the costs of the Elroq.
Moving round to the back and we get a familiar Skoda design that is inspired by the Enyaq and even a bit of the Fabia. We get an areodynamically designed rear spoiler with helps bring the drag coefficient down to 0.26 and it helps with the efficiency between 4.3 and 4.6 miles per kWh.
Getting inside the new Elroq and if you are familiar with the Enyaq then you will know where mostly everything is as the Elroq interior is mostly the same as the Enyaq apart from the Skoda lettering on the steering wheel replacing the logo and the new Infotainment system like what you would find in the new Superb and Kodiaq. Sadly unlike those cars we don't get any physical dials and the climate control is all on the screen. Rear space is actually identical to the Enyaq because of the wheelbase length and this means you get excellent legroom and headroom that is almost class leading. Boot space is also decent but not one of the best at 460 litres which is unusual for Skoda but Skoda has partitioned off the boot with some shelves and netting to help store items such as the charging cables. You also get the ice scraper in the boot too as well as an arm rest in the door. Talking of practicality there is a lot of storage in the centre console and is actually the most i have seen on a car interior.
So, with the Skoda Elroq sitting on the Volkswagen Group's MEB Platform you get a wide range of battery and motor options with an electric only range from 230 miles all the way to 379 miles. The power output is also decent with it either having 168 bhp, 201 bhp or 282 bhp power options with the top of the range model having 545 Nm of Torque. The price is also very good at £31,500 for the base model which undercuts its rivals but also is very close to the Skoda Karoq petrol counterpart. The top of the range is also decently priced at £41,600 miles.
The New Skoda Elroq will go on sale later this month and the first cars will start arriving by March 2025 for the 25 plate season. What do you think. Let me know on my Official Everything Cars and More Youtube Channel.
