The new MINI Cooper Hatch and Convertible have been revealed with changes to the outside and inside over the regular models.
To start with both models get Black and Red highlights on the front side vents. You also get red bonnet stripes as well as red door mirrors and roof on the Hatchback. The front grill is also different and looks sportier and moving round to the back there is a JCW spoiler and a single visible exhausts with a new diffuser.
Moving inside and we get a similar interior based on the Sport models of the MINI but there are a few JCW touches on the steering wheel with the JCW badge and paddle shifters. We also get some JCW graphics on the infotainment display and some slightly different materials on the JCW model.
What has changed though is under the bonnet. We get the same 2 litre turbo petrol engine as before with the same 228 bhp as before but the torque figure has increased from 320 to 380 Nm of torque. This has been helped by the upgraded dual clutch automatic gearbox. Sadly there wont be a manual option in the future. 0-62 is delt within 6.1 seconds on the Hatch whilst the Convertible takes 6.4 seconds.
MINI hasn't made drastic changes to the suspension or chassis but the springs and dampers have a better setup than before and some slightly larger brakes too.
The price of the new MINI Cooper Hatch JCW starts at £31,200 and for the Convertible model starts at £35,200 and both should be available by the end of this year or early next year.
