Following the launch of the heavily updated Vantage coupe last year, the Roadster version has now been revealed.
Like before, it doesn't get the 'Volante' suffix as that is reserved for the range topping DB12 model.
Following on from the Coupe the Roadster gets the same technical revisions as the coupe with more power and suspension components. At the heart of the Roadster is the AMG 4.0 litre V8 engine which has had its power bumped up by 153 bhp and torque bumped up by 116 Nm to 656 bhp and 800 Nm. This has been done by giving the V8 bigger turbo's and revised camshaft profiles as well as an improved compression ratio. 0-62 time is slightly quicker than before though at 3.5 seconds. Power goes through an 8 speed automatic to the rear wheels via an electronic limited slip differential and puts its power down through a set of Michellin Pilot Sport 5 S tyres which have been designed specifically for this car.
What is the same as before is the folding roof. this takes 6.8 seconds to open or close fully which is very quick compared to the Porsche 911 Cabriolet which needs about 15 seconds. We also get the same design as the Coupe on the outside and the same can be said for the inside. This means we get Aston Martin's latest infotainment system which works much better than the Mercedes version. It also now comes with gesture control too. Thankfully unlike some brands, Aston Martin didn't go all in on touchscreen as the essential buttons like the climate cntrol are still physical buttons. You also get as standard an 11 speaker sound system although you can upgrade to the optional Bowers & Wilkins system which has been specifically developed for this car.
Deliveries will begin in spring of this year but pricing has yet to be revealed but expect it to be a lot more than the £165,000 Vantage Coupe.
