The car that you are looking at is the all new Vauxhall Frontera Electric. Yes, Vauxhall are brining back the Frontera from the dead. Planned to replace the Vauxhall Crossland does this car have what it takes to be a good reliable replacement.
Well lets start with what we do know. We know that the Frontera will be bigger than the Crossland it is replacing, this means that it will sit better in between the Mokka and the much bigger Grandland Replacement. Could this mean we will get a new vehicle in between the Frontera and Grandland Replacement, we will have to wait and see. We also know that the Frontera will have a fully electric option and it will also have Hybrid engines taken from the new Corsa Facelift.
So, what don't we know but what can we guess. Well we can guess that the Frontera is not going to be based on the normal E-CMP platform but the new Smart Car Platform on what the new Citroen E-C3 and upcoming E-C3 Aircross are based on. This will reduce costs considerably which could mean the new Frontera will be cheaper than the Mokka Electric. If this is correct then it will most likely have a 111 bhp electric motor with a 44kWh Lithium Ion Battery creating about 150 miles of range. It could also get the battery and motor technology from the Corsa and Mokka but this may put the price up considerably.
The most important thing we don't know about yet is the design. From the teaser and Spy Shots we can see that it will have a boxy design like the old Frontera. it will also be more off-roader focuses with a much higher ride height. The design language also looks very similar to the indian Citroen C3. this could be coinsenence or it could be another cost cutting measure. The interior is expected to get a similar design to the Vauxhall Astra with a Pure Panel and premium materials. In some spy pictures we can see a square steering wheel so we may get a new steering wheel design. Another good point though is that there could be a 7 seater option. Considering it could be closely based on the upcomming E-C3 Aircross which is going to be a 7 seater, and that it is also growing in size by a considerable amount, could this be the first 7 seater that is a car since the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer. We will have to wait and see
