So, now we have reviewed the bigger MPV version of the van range, lets have a look at the smaller version. This is the Vauxhall Combo-e Life.
Exterior – Front
So, the design of the Combo-e Life is definitely better than the Vivaro-e Life. This is because we have the Vauxhall face. We have the older designed grill which looks like any older Vauxhall car like the Mokka X. we also have these headlights that have been shaped to look like a Vauxhall and also the lower bumper is different from the Peugeot and Citroen vans. The overall design is more of a Vauxhall rather than a rebadged car.
Exterior – Side
Moving round to the side. The van style is very present but to help make it look like an MPV, Vauxhall have given the Combo-e Life some nice alloy wheels and some unique colours which again I do like. We also get black door mirrors like what other Vauxhall cars have.
Exterior – Rear
Moving round to the back we can see it is based on any Peugeot or Citroen. The badges are different though but just like the Vivaro-e Life I do like the design of this car. Lets have a look at the battery and motor options.
Car and engine specs and price
So for the Combo-e Life you get a 50 kWh battery pack that provides a 174 mile range it get a 136 bhp motor also. Now all of this may sound familiar. That is because that the battery pack and the motor is taken from the Vauxhall Corsa-e and Mokka-e. the price of the Vauxhall Combo-e Life starts at £32,510.
Interior – Design
So, stepping inside, just like the Vivaro-e Life it starts to go down hill a bit. There are a lot of cheap plastics because it is based on a van. But the interior style feels like any Vauxhall car. We have the Vauxhall steering wheel as well as Vauxhall switchgear. We also get the Vauxhall infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster which is a very premium feature to have. We also get a heads up display. The overall design feels like a car which I do like and it feels robust.
Practicality
So unlike the Vivaro-e Life you can get this MPV in either a 5 seater option or a 7 seater option. In the middle row the rear legroom and headroom is more than enough. Also the middle row gets 3 full sized seats. For the 7 seater option the rear row is also quite spacious. Finally just like the Vivaro-e Life the rear doors slide making it very easy to get into in tight parking spaces. We also get a similar sunroof layout and some rear sun blinds.
Boot Size
So the boot size is quite impressive in the Combo-e Life. You get 597 litres with the seats up and this extends to 2,126 litres with the seats down. The rear parcel shelf can also go to different height which is handy for smaller items.
Summary
So, what do I think about the Combo-e Life. Well its just the same summary as the Vivaro-e Life. Which one would I choose. Well I think if you want a 7 seater then I would go for the Combo-e Life, if you want 9 seats then you have to go for the Vivaro-e and if you want 5 seats but you want to fit child seats in the back then you go for the Combo-e .
