Audi Q4 E-Tron Review

Is the Audi Q4 E-Tron better than its MQB SUV Brothers. Read on to find out.

Car engine specs and price

So lets start with what battery and motor options you can have. To start with you can have the 35 model which has a single 168 BHP motor that powers the rear wheels and can do 0-62 in 9 seconds. The range of the 35 is 212 miles. Next up is the 40 which has 201 BHP and is also rear wheel drive and can do 0 to 62 in 8.5 seconds. The range of the 40 is about 316 miles. The top of the range 50 has295 BHP and can do 0-62 in 6.2 seconds. This version has a range of 240 miles. The price of the Audi Q4 E-Tron starts at £41,325. for comparison the Volkswagen ID4 starts at £34,995 but goes all the way to £55,555 and the Skoda Enyaq starts at £32,010.

Exterior – Front

So at the front, the design may be a bit in your face at first like it was with me but to be honest I have got used to it now. The overall design was influenced by the Audi Q8 and to be honest the Q4 looks better than that car. We have an octagonal grill that is blanked off and the design of it look quite good. Lower down we have a big air vent and to separate the body colour we have a big silver or black trim panel depending of trim level that stretches from the left side vent, over the central vent and all the way to the right side vent which I really like. It also surrounds the grill just like the Q8. Now the best part is the headlights. Yes they are your normal LED headlights but the best part is that you can change the daytime running light graphic. There are 4 designs to choose from. This makes your Q4 more personal to you and I think it is a nice touch. I hope they update the software though so you can make your own design pattern as that would be great.

Exterior – Side

Along the side it looks very modern. We have 5 main lines. We have to muscular hunches above the front and rear wheel as well as lower hunches on the door which makes the side look very sporty. The lower sill panel is in black or body colour. We also have a floating rear roof which I like.

Exterior – Rear

At the back we have again a sporty design. The taillights have 3D look and the bumper also carries the design on to make the car look more premium. The lower bumper also looks sporty which I like. It also has the E-Tron logo on it. Finally we have a full width light bar and the lettering and badges can be had in black if you choose the black pack.

Interior – Design

On the inside the Audi Q4 has a unique but familiar design. To start with the infotainment is the same as what you would find in the rest of the Audi Line-up. Mind you though the rest of it is new though and th=I be honest I like the new design approach. To start with the steering wheel. It is a new design and it is not a circle. It is not a hexagon and it has a similar spoke design as the Audi A8 and bigger E-Tron but this one has the touch sensitive buttons that other Volkswagen cars have and it also has a 2D logo. The dashboard layout has a unique design with big airvents for the driver which I think for me are too big but the passenger ones are fine as that is one single bar. In the centre console we have a floating unit which is different and this houses the start stop button, radio controls and a couple of other switches including the gear shifter. Lower down we have some USB ports and some cup holders as well as a place to put your phone. Moving further back we have a nice armrest. One last thing I want to mention is that the climate controls are normal switches and not from a touchscreen like what you would find in the bigger E-Tron. This is the same as the E-Tron GT and to see what I think of the Audi E-Tron GT, then click on the top right banner.

Practicality

Sitting in the back we loads of legroom and headroom which is great and because of this it feels very roomy and spacious. 2 6 footers would be fine. You can also fit 3 people in the back with ease because there is no hump on the floor like other internal combustion cars. Finally we have some airvents, climate control switches, USB ports and an arm rest.

Boot Size

The Audi Q4 boot size starts at 520 litres with the seats up and if you fold the seats down 40, 20, 40 the boot extends to 1,490 litres.

Summary

So overall then should you buy this over the Volkswagen ID4 and the Skoda Enyaq. I believe you should because it is a more premium version and you know it is going to have build quality. If you have the money then go for the Audi Q4 E-Tron.
