New 2025 Peugeot E-5008 Review

Is the Peugeot E-5008 the best all rounder compared to the coupe E-3008?

Exterior – Front

So, let’s start with the design at the front and just like the E-3008, it is a bit of an odd one and is a looker. We get these extremely set of thin headlights that look way to small for the type of car this is. These are connected with a black bar. Below these you get a small set of tiger claw LED Daytime Running Lights which look decent but what I’m not sure about is the grill. Now the Peugeot grill has gone through a few different designs over the past few years, and this is the latest design. Now for me it makes the car look like it has a big turned up nose and it makes the front feel out of proportion. The lower central air vent is fine for this type of car and so is the side vents. Its just the headlight to grill proportion which is off

Exterior – Side

Moving round to the side and things start to get a bit better. Now grom the b-pillar to the front, it is exactly the same as the E-3008. From the b-pillar backwards it is different as we don’t get a sloping roof because of the 7 seats. This gives it more of an off-roader look which I think suits this design much better and its almost like the E-5008 was designed first before the E-3008. We get some creases and some gloss black cladding, but things have been kept to a minimum.

Exterior – Rear

Moving round to the back and whilst it has a different design to the E-3008 we get the same parts as that. We get the same taillights and black bar which again suits this car much better. We also get the same bumper too which houses the number plate which is my only negative on this car. Personally I wish that the numberplate was on the boot making it look more even as it looks a bit too plain on the boot for my liking and moving the numberplate would of sorted this. We do get a nice spoiler though. Lets have a look at what battery and motor options but also engine options you can have with the new Peugeot E-5008.

Car and engine specs and price

So, lets start with the Battery and motor lineup first. There are 3 models to choose from. The first one is called Electric 210. This has a single motor with 210 bhp. this can do 0-62 in 9.7 seconds, and it is front wheel drive. This has a 73-kWh battery pack with a range estimated at about 311 miles of range. The next version is called Electric 230 Long Range. This has 228 bhp and a 98-kWh battery pack with about 350 miles of electric only range. The 0-62 time hasn’t been announced yet, but it is front wheel drive. Finally, the next version is called Electric 320. This has a dual motor setup with 315 bhp. this uses the smaller 73 kWh battery pack and gets an electric only range of about 300 miles which still isn’t that bad. Now there is going to be a 1.2 Turbo petrol Mild Hybrid engine and a 1.6 Turbo Plug in Hybrid engine available after the launch of the E-5008 which will be in Autumn. The price is also expected to start at about £48,000 for the electric model but the base petrol model is expected to start around the £36,000 mark. These figures are correct at the time of filming and may be announced in between now and this going live. I just want to make you aware of that. Right, lets have a look at what the interior is like.

Interior – Design

So, moving inside the new Peugeot E-5008 and we get the same interior as the E-3008. This means that we get the same curved single display which houses the instrument cluster and infotainment system. This is a whole new setup which has never been seen on a Stellantis car which means that they have to make new software for it. The software is different to what we are used to from other new Stellantis cars, and it clear and responsive but it could be better in some areas. You also get another digital screen for your shortcuts below, but this time it now has 2 pages for your shortcuts which is a nice idea. We also get a new steering wheel as well as new indicator stalks. Those haven’t been updated for over 10 years if not longer. We get this recycled material all around the cabin and some cool ambient lighting which I do like, and the driver does feel separated from the passengers which I do also like. Because of this though the storage compartments in the centre console are hard to access unless you are a passenger. The seats are also new and are comfortable but don’t have the best design from the back. Talking of the back, let’s have a look at what the middle and third row is like.

Practicality

So, getting into the middle row and it is just like the E-3008. Now this means that unlike the old 5008 we don’t get 3 individual seats anymore making it better for the people in the outer seat but a bit of a pain for the middle person. This also removes the ISOFIX point in the middle too. headroom and legroom is fine because there is no sloping roof to worry about. You also get sliding seats and reclining seats too with a 40:20:40 split pattern. you also get your own rear climate control system, air vents as well as USB C ports. Lets have a look at the third row.

Moving into the third row and really, they are only going to be used for occasional use but it is big enough for average sized adults to squeeze in the back with the middle row all the way forward. This will be fine for short journeys as their knees will touch the seats. Kids will be fine in the back though and there are 2 small cupholders. Lets have a look at the boot.

Boot Size

So, opening the boot and with all of the seats in place, you are welcomed with 259 litres. This is just under 100 litres more over the old one and you can fit a decent amount in the back with the 7 seats in place. Turning the E-5008 into a 5-seater and you are welcomed to 748 litres of boot space. again, this is bigger than the previous model. Folding all of the rear seats down though and you are welcomed to a huge 2,042 litres of boot space. this amount of space is smaller than the Kia EV9 but bigger than the Mercedes EQB

Summary

So, what do I think of the new Peugeot E-5008. Well, it is better than the E-3008 and for it being a 7-seater it is a decent car. You also get an 8-year 100,000 battery and motor warranty which is also decent. I’m just not sure that £50k is too much for this car. Yes, it is futuristic and modern looking but in a few years’ time there will be ones for half the price if not less depending on how the electric car market is. Personally, I would wait at least 6 months after the UK launch before considering one as there would be some good deals out once they have been around a while.
