the improvements enough to make it the ultimate electric Audi?

Exterior – Front

So, I’m sure everyone knows that the E-Tron GT is based on the Porsche Tycan in performance but not looks. Well, Audi has given this car a nip and tuck in the front with a more modern looking grill which looks sporty. They have also given it a wider look by making the side vents slightly wider and making them look more integrated into the front. There are even some body colour elements to it. The headlights are the same as before which is unfortunate as you can’t customise them, which is a shame, but they do still look sporty. Finally, we get the new Audi logo up front.

Exterior – Side

Moving round to the side and there isn’t many changes to talk about apart for some new colour and wheel options which is always the case. There is a new air suspension feature though as in when you open the door the car rises to make it easier to get in.

Exterior – Rear

Moving round to the back of the car and it is the same story as the front. The taillights are the same as before which I am ok with as they always looked futuristic. The bumper is different though with it looking much more aggressive than before with a big fake diffuser. There are also some new badges too just to finish the rear off nicely.  Right, lets have a look and see what battery and motor options you can have with the new Audi E-Tron GT Facelift.

Car and engine specs and price

So, the lineup of the new Audi E-Tron GT consists of 4 models. 2 of which are new. Lets start with the first one which is the new base model. This is called Quattro, and this uses a 580 bhp dual motor setup powering all 4 wheels. This gives the car a 4 second 0-62 time which is still quite decent. This uses the bigger 97 kWh battery pack giving this car 384 miles of range which is very good considering. The next version is called S. this uses a more powerful 671 bhp dual motor setup giving this car a 3.6 second 0-62 time. This also uses a 97-kWh battery pack giving this car a 370-mile range which for the performance is still very good. The next version is called RS, and this will most likely be the popular model. This uses an 844 bhp dual motor setup giving this car a quick 3.1 second 0-62 time. This also uses a 97-kWh battery pack and a 360-mile range which is still impressive considering again the performance. The final version is the new RS Performance model. This is even more powerful than the RS with 912 bhp. this can do 0-62 in 2.9 seconds and uses the 97-kWh battery pack giving 360 miles of range which is still crazy with the performance. All models use a 2-gear setup to give you that bit of extra performance. The price of the Audi E-Tron GT starts at £89,505 for the base Quattro version but it can go all the way to £143,875 for the top of the range RS Performance model. Right, lets have a look and see what the interior is like.

Interior – Design

So, climbing inside the new Audi E-Tron GT Facelift and we do get some changes which are quite interesting. So, the main layout is the same as before with the same infotainment system setup and dashboard design as well as centre console design, but we do get the latest generation Audi steering wheels which I do think suits this car much better as the flat top looks like it suits the top part of the dashboard. The graphics are great on the infotainment system and on the new performance model you get a lot of red touches. What I also like is that you get quite a few physical buttons still unlike the newer Audi’s. Yes, I perhaps would have been nice to have the newer Audi dashboard inside with the latest infotainment system, but this interior is definitely one of the best I have been in for an Audi. I would even say it is better than the Porsche Tycan interior although we still get Porsche seats which are supportive and do look good. Right, let’s have a look and see what the rear seats are like.

Practicality

So, climbing into the back and we can see that the outer seats have been sculpted to be like the front seats. This does make them more supportive too which is quite nice. Legroom isn’t bad but headroom isn’t the best because of the sloping roof but that is understandable. You also get your own rear air vents and heated seats as well as premium materials in the back. Now it does feel quite dark because of the bucket style front seats, and this does make it feel claustrophobic which isn’t the best, but it is liveable. What isn’t so liveable is if you want to carry a 5th person in the middle. Now because of the sculpted outer seats, it feels that the middle seat has been made redundant and there is also a big hump on the floor which again makes it less comfortable in the middle. Anyway, lets have a look at the boot.

Boot Size

So, opening the boot and the Audi E-Tron GT doesn’t have the biggest boot in the world at 405 litres, but it is still useable. If you do fold the seats down 40:20:40 though and this increases to 1,187 litres which isn’t bad. You do get an 81-litre front boot though which is quite good for your charging cables and a few other essential items so there is a decent amount of space.

Summary

So, in summary then what do I think of the new Audi E-Tron GT Facelift. Well, there is no denying that the E-Tron GT is a special car. it has the look inside and out to be sleek and go under the radar whilst having the performance of a supercar. Really this is everything that you need and is the current ultimate Audi. Or is it? You see now in a years’ time we should be seeing the new Audi RS6 E-Tron. The question is will this be the direct replacement considering the size of the cars. We will have to wait and see if it is and if it can beat the E-Tron GT as it has some big shoes to fill.
