New 2024 Honda CR-V Review

Can the new 2024 Honda CR-V still hold its ground against its rivals and is it the best Honda SUV?

Exterior – Front

So, let's start with the styling at the front of the new CRV and as you can tell it looks a lot more aggressive over the HRV with its very slim LED headlights and a big mesh patterned grill. The lower part of the front also looks sporty with its thin side vents and big sharp looking central air vent. The overall style is sporty looking and modern but premium too as it has elements of the new civic in its styling which i like.

Exterior – Side

Moving round to the side and unlike its curvy smaller HRV model the CRV is boxier with some sharper creases. We also get some body coloured cladding and a sharp crease below the window line with an indent just above the sill. We also get more chrome than the HRV and the door handle is the same as the front ones and is not hidden.

Exterior – Rear

So, moving round to the back you can see a more upright and less sporty design. This is so the CRV is more practical. It is also a lot edgier over the HRV and to be honest this gives it a more aggressive character. to start with we get these sporty looking taillights that look like they are mixed with a Volvo and an Alfa Romeo. The tailgate is also slightly bigger to make it easier to lift heavier items in and the overall look does make the car look bigger but also more grown up compared to the HRV.

Boot Size

Opening the boot to the Honda CRV and you are welcomed with 617 litres of boot space with the seats up. If you include the storage below the false floor it increases to 635 litres. Let's have a look at the engine options that you can have with the new 2024 Honda CRV.

Car and engine specs and price

so, for the engine range of the new CRV you can only have a Petrol Mild Hybrid that uses a 2 litre Atkinson cycle engine with an electric motor. It has a 1.06 kWh battery pack which allows you to drive at low speeds on short distances without the need of an engine. at higher speeds it gives you extra boost to build the power up quicker. The Mild Hybrid engine has 179 bhp with a 0-62 time of 9.4 seconds which doesn't feel as quick in a big car like a CRV. The price of the new Honda CRV starts at £45,895. Let's have a look at the interior of the new Honda CRV.

Interior – Design

So, climbing inside the new Honda CRV and it will be very similar to the new Honda Civic. This is because it uses the same interior design as that car. This means we get a full width adjustable air vents that are hidden behind this mesh grill and just below that we get some physical climate controls that have a metal feel and a knurled effect which gives this car a premium feel. We also get some more premium materials on the dashboard as well as a digital instrument cluster and a good infotainment system that is easy to use and has a clear display. The steering wheel has been taken from the Civic and the centre console is like the Civic with the selector buttons and you also have your driving mode selector and offroad buttons as well as your hybrid button. The seats are very supportive with good bolstering, and they also look premium and feel premium with high end materials.

Practicality

So, climbing into the rear seats and the use of premium materials continues with premium materials and premium trim finishes. you get plenty of legroom as well as headroom and you get your own air vents and heated seats in the back. You can also recline the seats if you wanted to but you do sit higher in the back than some other SUVs which is a nice touch.

Summary

So, what do I think of the new Honda CRV? well it is a decent car, and it is much better than the e:Ny1 as it knows what it is rivalling. The main rivals are the Toyota RAV4, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Nissan X-Trail and the Mazda CX-5, Vauxhall Grandland, Peugeot 3008, Ford Kuga, and the new Volkswagen Tiguan. Overall then the Honda CRV is up there on top in terms of these rivals and is as good as the excellent Kia Sportage. The question is though can it beat the new Volkswagen Tiguan. If you want me to compare the new Honda CRV and the Volkswagen Tiguan, then let me know in the comment section below.
