New 2024 Audi Q8 Facelift Review

Can the new 2024 Audi Q8 still hold its ground against its rivals?

Exterior – Front

So, whats changed with the Q8 Facelift. Well, not that much. We do get a different front end that now mimics the new Q8 E-Tron. This means the grill surround is now more integrated into the bumper rather than stuck on and the side vents do not touch the grill surround making it easier on the eye and sleeker looking in my opinion. The headlights are different and have a slightly different shape to them again to make the grill fit better. They also have Audi’s new LED Daytime Running Light technology. This means that you can choose what Day Time Running Light design you want. We have seen this on other Audi’s like the Q4 E-Tron. We do get a new honeycomb grill mesh design but unlike the Q8 E-Tron we don’t get a light bar which is a shame. We also get the new 2D Audi badge.

Exterior – Side

Moving round to the side and there are no changes physically, but we do get some new colour options and wheel options ranging from 21 to 23 inches. These changes are like we do with every other facelift.

Exterior – Rear

Moving round to the back and we get a set of new taillights with OLED technology incorporated. There is also a new feature which I do quite like because of this new technology.  Using the rear sensors, the car can detect if the car behind it is not slowing down and could potentially cause an accident. If it detects this, it will flash the rear lights to get the drivers attention to stop. Also, because these taillights are OLED, they have different graphics for driving modes and braking. Moving lower down we do get a slightly different bumper design, but it is not noticeable at first. We also get new Audi badges and lettering like what we have seen on the Q8 E-Tron. Let’s have a look at the engine options you can have with the Audi Q8 Facelift.

Car and engine specs and price

So, the engine range of the Audi Q8 has been reduced in the past with the removal of the Plug in Hybrid option. Because of this the engine range has stayed the same. This means we get one diesel engine and one petrol engine, two if you include the SQ8 but that will not come up in this review and will be reviewed at a later date. So lets start with the diesel options. This is a 3 litre V6 turbo unit badges 50 TDI. This has 283 bhp and it can do 0-62 in 6.1 seconds, and it carries on to 150 mph. this engine also uses Audi’s Quattro system. This can only be had with an 8 speed dual clutch automatic. For the petrol engine you can have a 3 litre V6 turbo unit badged 55 TFSI. with 345 bhp and a 0-62 time of 5.6 seconds with a maximum speed of 155 mph. again this uses Audi’s quattro system and can only be had with an 8 Speed dual clutch Automatic. The price of the Audi Q8 Facelift starts at £73,165. Lets have a look at the interior.

Interior – Design

So, climbing inside the new Audi Q8 facelift and the changes are hard to spot. The only changes I can find are new trim options and plastics but apart from that that’s about it. There are some technological updates to the infotainment system. This includes an updated infotainment system which has more apps including Spotify and Amazon Music. The rest of the cabin still feels very premium and very Audi. We get the usual 3 screen setup and a lot of piano black. The instrument cluster is easy to see and has some updated graphics to help with the assistance systems better. The seats are comfy and supportive and have loads of adjustment in them. practicality is good too. Talking of practicality lets have a look at the rear seats.

Practicality

So, getting into the back and just like before headroom and legroom is ok. The rear seats can recline, and we still get loads of premium materials. We also get USB C ports, and you can get rear climate controls, but we do get an arm rest and air vents as standard. Let’s have a look in the boot.

Boot Size

Opening the boot to the Audi Q8 and we are welcomed with 605 litres of boot space. folding the seats down 40/20/40 and we get 1,755 litres of boot space. this is a decent amount and is more than the BMW X6 rival.

Summary

So, the Audi Q8 Facelift. it is definitely an improved car overall. It looks more premium and not in your face as before. It feels more premium too and whilst the interior hasn’t changed that much, it still feels premium for 2024 which I am fine with.
