New 2023 Jeep Avenger Review

Can a electric Jeep be a good offroader?

Exterior – Front

So, let’s start off with the styling at the front and it does look like a baby Jeep. We get the usual Jeep 7 bar grill which harks back to older jeeps. Integrated in this bar we get some LED headlights that are pushed back like they are behind the grill. Lower down we get this air vent and this big central air vent with body cladding surrounding it. Also, this body cladding connects the fog lights and side vents giving it a sporty and bold look.

Exterior – Side

Moving round to the side and we get this Jeepish styling. We get these big wheel arches with cladding all along the side of the car. We also get some hidden rear door handles and some sporty looking 18-inch wheels. Wheel sizes range from 16 to 18 inches.

Exterior – Rear

Moving round the back and the boldness continues. We get these small taillights which suit the car well. We also get more body cladding and some skid plates and overall, it gives this car a smooth look which helps make this car look like the baby Jeep in the range. We also get a big tailgate area which houses the number plate.

Boot Size

Opening the boot and you are welcomed to a decent boot size for the type of car it is. This is 380 litres which is about right for a small family or as a second car that will go to shops. if you fold the seats down though you do get this ridge that you have to lift things over but that is the same on all Stellantis cars of this size. Let’s have a look at the battery and motor options that you can have with the Jeep Avenger

Car and engine specs and price

So for the UK the only available option for the Avenger is the electric option. This means you get a 154 bhp electric motor. This is mated to a 54kWh battery pack giving this car 248 miles of range which is not that bad for this type of car. 0-60 time is 9 seconds with a top speed of 93 mph which is more than enough for motorway driving. There will also be a 4 wheel drive version coming in 2024 so look out for that. The price of the Jeep Avenger starts at £34,945.

Interior – Design

So, getting inside the Jeep avenger and it will feel different to any other jeep before it. This is because it is using Stellantis technology. The indicator stalks, steering wheel buttons are all from Stellantis. The infotainment system also is too and the instrument cluster. All of this does work quite well so I am not complaining about it. The dashboard layout is also unique, and you can also have it in body colour. You also get this air vent bar which I do like and some physical climate controls. What I am not sure about is this centre cubby hole. It is big enough for a backpack, but it feels too big to put sunglasses or anything small in. also this cover feels very cheap, and it can be removed which makes it easily loose able. The seats are comfy though which I do like, and the overall finish does feel very premium for a small crossover. Let’s check the rear seats out.

Practicality

So, getting into the rear of the Jeep Avenger and legroom is not the best. It is very tight for 6 footers, but headroom is not that bad. Really like other cars from the Stellantis group it is only for children or small families in the back which this is what this car is made for but other cars in this segment do have better legroom which is a shame.

Summary

So, the Jeep Avenger is a decent small Jeep. It can do a bit of light off roading, and it has the looks for a school run but for practicality it is not the best for rear legroom and this is where you will need a bigger car. This is where the Renegade would come in.
