This is the new Peugeot E-5008. Is this the best 7 seater to go for out of its increasing rivals?
Exterior Design
So, on the outside of the E-5008, there is no surprise that it looks like a stretched estate version of the E-3008. this is because from the windscreen forwards it is the E-3008. from the windscreen backwards its all new with a higher roof and a more upright rear end. This is to accommodate the 7 seats. Styling wise it is the same as the E-3008. This means we get the new Peugeot design language that looks very modern and unique.
Interior Design
Moving inside and again just like the front of the E-5008, the interior is the same as the E-3008. this means we get this new design with a big panoramic 21 inch curved screen that houses the instrument cluster and infotainment system all on one screen. We also get a smaller screen below for your favorite shortcuts and you can now have 2 pages of them. The steering wheel is also new and the gear selector is mounted on the dashboard a bit like what Porsche are doing at the moment. You still feel like your cocooned inside and that it is driver focused. It is also very light and airy at the same time with the use of light premium materials and ambient lighting too.
Performance
Now for the performance of the E-5008. Yet again because this is based on the E-3008 which is based on the new STLA Medium platform. The E-5008 will be launched with 3 powertrains. the first one is a front mounted single motor creating 201 bhp and has a 73 kWh battery pack. the next one is a 228 bhp motor with a 98 kWh battery pack. The base model can travel for 327 miles on a single charge but the headliner on this car is that the 98 kWh can go for 400 miles. The best in its class. The top spec model has a dual motor setup creating 4 wheel drive with 321 bhp and this is mated to the 73 kWh battery pack creating 310 miles.
There will also be a few hybrid options too in the future with Peugeot's new 1.2 Litre Turbo Mild Hybrid unit that you can get in the current 5008. this has 136 bhp and it has hybrid assistance for performance and economy reason. Later down the line there will be a few plug in hybrid options. Wheel sizes range from 19 to 20 inches too.
Summary
Prices are expected to start above the £45,000 price tag of the E-3008 so expect it to be around £47,500 to £50,000 for the electric version but the hybrid version will bring the price possibly below £40,000.
