This is the new BMW Vision Neue Klasse X Concept. Is this the future of BMW SUV's?
Exterior Design
So, lets start with the elephant in the room, the design. Well, i think BMW have done something right. They have made a modern SUV but with a retro style. We get a set of Small kidney grills like on the classic Neue Klasse from the 1960s. You also get the Horizontal bar like the Classic BMW's too and this will house the headlights and sensors. We also get a sporty bumper like the more modern BMW's. Round the side and there are a few design traits that are new on any car. the Waist line has moved low down near the wheels giving this car an interesting look and we also get square wheel arches too. The Hofmeister kink has also changed to be there in terms of a film to help aerodynamics. Around the back we get a minimalistic and clean design similar to what we get with the BMW iX.
Interior Design
Inside the new BMW Vision Neue Klasse X Concept and we get a whole new design language that will make it to production. The dashboard has been set low down to give this Panoramic drivers screen projected onto the windscreen this is called Panoramic Vision. This houses your instrument cluster and also 6 widgets that can display navigation information, weather, traffic information and consumption. the Dashboard houses the slanted infotainment system that again will come to production but in a slightly different way we expect. We also get a 4 spoke steering Wheel that is quite odd and hopefully wont make it to production. Although what will is the small form factor like what Peugeot do. This is so you look above for the instrument cluster. the Centre console is also minimalistic in terms of switches. At night the ambient lighting is also nice with a warm white glow. All materials that are used in this car are vegan friendly and this is supposed to be carried over for the production model.
Summary
Talking of production then what car will this replace. Well this car is expected to replace the BMW iX3 or sit along side it for some time. It is expected to be revealed next year before the saloon version which will replace the 3 Series. Powertrains are expected to get a 350 mile range but that is all we know at the moment. The Neue Klasse is being tested at the moment so it shouldn't be too long to wait.
