The BMW 2 Series and M2 have received an update for 2024

BMW has revealed the new BMW 2 Series and M2 with a host of new updates for 2024.

To start with the overall exterior design has not changed over the previous model as this is not a full facelift. What is new on the outside is that we get some new exterior colours including this Fire Red as seen on the BMW 5 Series and we also get some new wheel options.

The interior is slightly different though than before. That's thanks to a new steering wheel taken from the new 4 Series facelift and 3 Series update which includes a new flat bottom design and a red top dead centre mark. Also from those cars we get the new dashboard design which has more ambient lighting and a new air vent style. The infotainment system has also been upgraded to the new iDrive 8.5 system which is much easier to use and utalises the one layer system. BMW has also included some new trim options including new open-pore timber and carbon fibre trim. There is also a new red synthetic leather option.

The engine lineup on the new BMW 2 Series consists of a 3 tier lineup. The base model starts with the 220i. This uses a 2 litre engine producing 181 bhp. The next version is the 230i and this uses the same engine but the power has been increased to 241. Finally at the top of the range we get the M240i. this uses a 3 litre straight 6 engine producing 369 bhp and features BMW's X-Drive system as where as the other engines are rear wheel drive only. What is also new for this update is that these engines can only be had with an 8 speed automatic gearbox.

The next car to get the change is the BMW M2. Now just like the regular 2 Series the updates have been kept to the engine and interior but we do get some new colours on the outside. The interior features the same updates as the 2 Series.

Unlike the 2 Series though the M2 gains more power than before going from 454 bhp to 473 bhp. This comes from the 'S58' engine just like before. The 0-62 time has also improved from 4.1 seconds to 4.0 seconds. BMW has also made tweaks software wise by improving the engine mapping too.

The price of the new BMW 2 Series starts at £36,865 for the 220i model and the BMW M2 starts at £63,360 and the order books are open now for both of the models.
