Volkswagen has announced the pricing and specification of the new 2024 Volkswagen Golf Facelift.
Going on sale from the 11th April with a starting price of just £27,035, the Golf will be available in 3 standard trim levels. These are Life, Match and Style. Above the Style trim level is the R-Line and then the usual GTI, GTE and later in the year the range will be finished with the R.
What engines can you have with the Golf Facelift
The engine lineup kicks off with the regular 1.5 TSI engine which will produce either 114 bhp or 148 bhp. There are also 2 mild hybrid engines are also 1.5 litre but are called eTSI. they also produce the same amount of power but have electric assistance which makes them much more economical and better on fuel too. There is also a pair of 2.0 TDI diesel engine which again can be either had with 114 bhp or 148 bhp. There will also be a 2.0 TSI with 201 bhp and 4MOTION 4 wheel drive to join the lineup in 2025 but we don't know if this will come to the UK.
The Golf eHybrid engines and GTE uses the second generation of Volkswagen's plug in technology. this means you get a much bigger battery pack at 19.7 kWh (up from 10.6 kWh). Because of this you get a much longer electric only range of 62 miles. There is also a boost in power for the GTE at 286 bhp (up from 243 bhp) and the regular eHybrid Golf stays the same at 201 bhp.
Finally on the top of the range, the GTI, gets the usual 2.0 litre TSI engine but the power has increased to 261 bhp (up from 242 bhp). Sadly though this won't be available in a 6 Speed Manual and only available with the 7 Speed DSG automatic.
What about the Volkswagen Golf R?
So, the Volkswagen Golf R. This will be revealed later this year and the power should also be increased from the regular 316 bhp. It is speculated it could be 328 bhp as that is what the 20 Years special edition produces. It will also retain its 4 wheel drive too.
So, what do you think of the Golf Facelift. Will it be a good car. Find out when we review it later in the year.
